Equines

When competing at the highest levels of show jumping, the quality of the horse is just as important—if not more so—than the skill of the rider. Success in the ring is not a matter of chance, but the result of careful breeding, training, and partnership. At REC, we understand that having a horse specifically bred and built for elite show jumping is paramount. This is why our horses come from exceptional bloodlines, meticulously selected for their athleticism, temperament, and conformation.

While the rider acts as the strategist and problem solver during competition—making split-second decisions, adjusting strides, and setting the pace—it is the horse who must execute the physical demands of the sport. A successful round requires more than obedience; the horse must be powerful, agile, brave, and willing to meet the challenge of each jump. The better the horse’s innate qualities—such as scope, technique, and mental resilience—the better the partnership will perform. This might seem self-evident, but it’s often this edge in breeding and preparation that separates a winning round from a runner-up.

Our breeding program primarily focuses on top-tier sport horse breeds such as the Selle Français and Hanoverians, both known for their reliability and outstanding performance in jumping. In addition, we also produce carefully selected Dutch Warmbloods and Swedish Warmbloods, broadening our genetic pool while maintaining our focus on quality.

We are extremely selective in choosing breeding pairs, driven by a dual commitment: to avoid inbreeding and to continuously raise the bar for the next generation. Every match is made with purpose, aiming to improve on the last—whether that means enhancing jump technique, refining temperament, or building strength and stamina. To support this goal, we have introduced new and diverse bloodlines into our program, which has resulted in the development of a uniquely strong and competitive string of horses. Many of our homebred jumpers now compete successfully at a wide range of events, often turning heads and achieving top placings.

At Centre Équestre Riddermark, we don’t just breed horses—we shape future champions.
